COMMITTED TO REACH THE UNREACHED
REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence. The project was first designed by Dr Mohamed A. Yassin who was based in Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and now works at the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. The project is supported by The Stop TB Department TB REACH and implemented in close collaboration with the LSTM. The TB REACH project was scaled up to covers 7.5 million people. In 2013 we moved from being a project to an independent organization which is registered under Ethiopian law as REACH Ethiopia (its previous name was Hidase Hulentenawi Agelglot Yebego Adragot Mahiber – HHA).
We have a strong track record in translating research into practice in the country.
REACH Ethiopia started its project by base in Hawassa the capital of Sidama Regional State. which is aiming to contribute to improved access to health care through implementation of innovative projects. Recently It is working in different parts of Ethiopia such as Addis Abeba , Harar, Dire Dawa, Sidama regional state and SNNPR by base in Addis Abeba The REACH Ethiopia work is organized into implementing projects through support from different partners. We have a strong track record in translating research into practice in the country. We aim to deliver high quality implementation research, leading to the development of practice and policy guidelines for the scale up of low cost, innovative healthcare interventions that improve health outcomes. As an indigenous led NGO, REACH Ethiopia’s capacity to deliver high quality research positions the organization to be a leading south-south provider of advice and training within Ethiopia and the region.
