REACH Ethiopia and Shama Birhan People Living With HIV/AIDS Women Development Association signed a sub-award agreement to implement the USAID Urban TB LON II Activity in Dire Dawa City Administration and Harari Region.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Tamiru Assefa, Executive Director of REACH Ethiopia, and Mrs. Wubit Admasse, Executive Director of Shama Birhan, a local organization established by women living with HIV.
Under this agreement, Shama Birhan will collaborate with local government offices, community volunteers, and peer navigators to:
- Conduct community-based TB notification
- Implement community sensitization and mobilization activities
- Create awareness about TB
- Coordinate community volunteers
- Provide support to health facilities
- Advocate for TB programs
By building the capacity of local organizations, the USAID Urban TB LON II Activity aims to strengthen their ability to address TB challenges at the community level and develop sustainable solutions.
