REACH Ethiopia Advocates for Enhanced Investment and Accountability in the Fight Against TB

REACH Ethiopia, represented by two senior staff, actively participated in the international meeting “Strengthening Advocacy for Enhanced Investment and Accountability: A Pathway to Ending TB in Africa” held in Lilongwe, Malawi 🇲🇼, from November 18-20, 2024.
During the meeting, REACH Ethiopia shared its valuable experience with Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) and engaged in fruitful discussions on strategies to improve TB financing and accountability.

Key Focus Areas of the Meeting:
• Enhanced Awareness of TB Financing: The meeting aimed to raise awareness about the global TB financing landscape, highlighting both challenges and opportunities.
• Innovative Funding Methods: Participants explored innovative approaches to secure sustainable funding for TB programs, ensuring their long-term viability.
• CLM Implementation and Scaling: The meeting reviewed the implementation of CLM in various countries and discussed strategies to scale up effective CLM practices, empowering communities to play a more active role in TB control.
• Improved Accountability: Participants emphasized the importance of accountability in TB programs and explored mechanisms to strengthen accountability at all levels, ensuring transparency and efficiency in resource utilization.

By participating in this international meeting, REACH Ethiopia reinforced its commitment to community engagement and accountability in the fight against TB. The organization will continue to advocate for increased investment and improved accountability to achieve the global goal of ending TB.

REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence.
