Making a Difference: REACH Ethiopia’s Innovative Approach to TB Detection Featured at Global Conference

REACH Ethiopia’s commitment to finding and supporting individuals affected by TB drives our every effort. This dedication recently took us to The Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024 in Bali, Indonesia, where we proudly presented our latest research on active TB case finding.

This inspiring piece highlights the transformative power of innovative technology – specifically, AI-assisted chest X-ray screening – in our ongoing efforts to detect TB across diverse communities in Ethiopia, including urban, rural, and pastoralist populations. Our compelling findings revealed a significantly higher TB burden than national averages, powerfully underscoring the critical importance of proactive screening initiatives. Furthermore, the effectiveness of AI in identifying cases that might otherwise remain undetected was clearly demonstrated.

We firmly believe that by embracing advancements in technology, we can extend our reach to more individuals in need, ensure timely access to treatment, and ultimately save more lives. Our participation in The Union Conference, and the recognition of our work in the linked article, further invigorates our commitment to continue pioneering innovative solutions for TB elimination in Ethiopia.
