Early Information Saves Lives; Empowered Communities Prevent Disease

In hard-to-reach and pastoralist communities, TB awareness is often the missing link between illness and recovery. While social mobilization is the engine of prevention, socio-cultural barriers and mobility patterns often stall progress.

Through our Expertise France-supported project, REACH Ethiopia is closing this gap by:

  • Delivering accurate, evidence-based TB information
  • Engaging trusted community members as information ambassadors
  • Providing expert guidance to ensure message quality and consistency
  •  Effectively utilizing the local information dissemination system, DAGU
  • Leveraging all accessible communication channels to reach every community member

This strategic approach is already showing measurable impact. We are witnessing an increase in self-referred individuals seeking TB screening and testing services a strong indicator that awareness is translating into action. Early information saves lives. Empowered communities prevent disease.

REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence.
