REACH Ethiopia is thrilled to announce the launch of the USAID Urban TB LON II – SWIF TB Initiative in Dilla Town, Gedeo Zone, Southern Ethiopia. Implemented in partnership with the South Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau, this project aims to significantly reduce the burden of TB in the region.
The launch ceremony, attended by key stakeholders including government officials, religious leaders, community leader Aba Gada, and partners, generated significant enthusiasm for the project’s innovative approach. As part of the ceremony, TB screening utilizing digital X-ray with AI technology was conducted at Dilla Prison.
The SWIF TB Initiative prioritizes improving access to high-impact TB interventions, delivering patient-centered care, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies like AI-powered screening. Community engagement is crucial, with the involvement of respected community leaders like Aba Gada vital for disseminating information and raising awareness. This collaborative effort, spearheaded by REACH Ethiopia, will play a vital role in combating TB in the Gedeo Zone and strengthening local capacity to effectively fight this devastating disease.
