📍 Adama, Ethiopia
Last week, Ethiopia’s leading laboratory experts and health stakeholders gathered in Adama for a high-level review of the National TB Laboratory Network.
Organized by the REACH Ethiopia/iNTP 2.0 project in collaboration with the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), this workshop served as a critical platform for assessing national progress, addressing systemic challenges, and driving health innovation across the country.

Strengthening the Backbone of TB Detection
The primary focus of this comprehensive review was to evaluate the efficiency of the laboratory network and optimize the LabXpert connectivity system. By prioritizing real-time diagnostic monitoring, REACH Ethiopia and EPHI are ensuring that the national response to Tuberculosis is faster, more accurate, and data-driven.

Key Highlights from the Workshop
- Regional Accountability & Collaboration: Representatives from all regions presented detailed performance data. This transparent approach allowed experts to identify shared bottlenecks and co-create strategic solutions for the upcoming year.
- Smart Tech & Data Integration: We are currently leveraging digital connectivity to monitor 950+ diagnostic machines in real-time. By analyzing LabXpert indicators, we transform raw data into actionable insights. The Goal: Better tracking leads to faster results, which ultimately means more lives saved.
- Strategic Evaluation of iNTP II: Partners evaluated the current implementation status of the iNTP II project, ensuring that every strategic milestone aligns with the evolving needs of the national diagnostic network.
- Forging Stronger Partnerships: The workshop reinforced the vital link between EPHI and regional laboratories, a partnership essential for delivering high-quality TB care to every corner of Ethiopia.

Moving Toward a TB-Free Ethiopia
The insights gained in Adama will guide our efforts in the months for the year ahead. REACH Ethiopia remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening laboratory systems and enhancing diagnostic precision.

Together with our partners, we are building a more resilient health system capable of ending the TB epidemic in Ethiopia.
