Collaborating for Change: Ethiopia’s New 5-Year TB Lab Strategy

REACH Ethiopia, under the iNTP 2.0 project, & the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) successfully concluded a four-day workshop in Adama. This collaborative effort gathered experts from EPHI, the Ministry of Health (MOH), WHO Ethiopia, REACH Ethiopia & Management Sciences for Health (MSH) to revise the National TB Laboratory Strategic Plan for 2026–2030. By evaluating past achievements and addressing existing gaps, the team ensured the new strategy aligns with national laboratory priorities and the global End TB Strategy targets.

A central focus of this revision is the integration of LabXpert, a cutting-edge digital connectivity tool designed to revolutionize laboratory data management. By transitioning from manual systems to this electronic platform, the laboratory network will enable real-time data tracking and result sharing. This digital transformation is vital for the health system, as it significantly accelerates result delivery and improves diagnostic accuracy for patients nationwide.

This milestone represents a significant step forward in Ethiopia’s journey to enhance laboratory services, ensure timely treatment, and ultimately achieve the goal of ending TB. REACH Ethiopia remains committed to supporting national efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure and diagnostic services.
