(Bishoftu, January 30, 2026) — Today marks a landmark achievement in the digital transformation of Ethiopia’s healthcare landscape. REACH Ethiopia has officially handed over the LabXpert Connectivity System to the Federal Ministry of Health (MOH), the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), and our regional stakeholders.

Through the iNTP 2.0 project—funded by the U.S. Department of State via a grant from the Stop TB Partnership—we have moved from vision to reality. We aren’t just connecting machines; we are connecting patients to life-saving care.

Key Project Achievements
Our commitment to innovation has yielded measurable results that strengthen the national laboratory system:
| Feature | Impact & Achievement |
| Digital Transformation | 98.4% (956/972) of GeneXpert machines are now equipped with LabXpert software, with nearly 90% active real-time connectivity. |
| Faster Care | Over 261,665 TB results delivered via SMS, slashing turnaround times and accelerating treatment commencement. |
| Smart Savings | Secure VPN deployment has led to an 85% annual saving ($67,830) on internet costs. |
| Sustainability | The system is 100% managed by local Ethiopian software engineers and IT experts. |
| System Integration | Seamless integration with DHIS2, strengthening data use for national reporting and surveillance. |
Innovation & Performance Enhancements
We have continuously evolved the platform to meet the needs of a modern health system:
- Enhanced Relay Systems: Improved home interfaces and maintenance tracking.
- Comprehensive Reporting: New summary reports for AFB, LF-LAM, TB culture, DST, and EQA.
- Expanded Scope: Brand-new dashboards for HIV Viral Load and EID.
- Stability: Critical bug fixes ensuring high performance and regulatory compliance.

A New Chapter of Local Ownership
This handover is more than a technical transition; it is a celebration of local capacity. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Donors ,MOH, EPHI, regional stakeholders, and partners. A special thank you goes to our dedicated technical teams and software engineers whose expertise made this possible.
Together, we are building a more resilient, data-driven, and patient-centered laboratory system for Ethiopia.
