
(Addis Ababa, December 3, 2025) REACH Ethiopia is proud to participate in the Mid-Term External Review of the National TB, Leprosy, and Other Lung Diseases (TBLLD) Strategic Plan (2023-2030) in Ethiopia. This participation underscores our ongoing commitment to the End TB Strategy through direct technical and financial support for national programs.

Yesterday, an essential orientation for external reviewers was successfully conducted. The event featured the esteemed presence of H.E. Dr. Dereje Duguma, State Minister of Health, and Dr. Hiwot Solomon, DPC Lead Executive Office, MoH Senior Officer & Dr. Viney Kerri from the Department for HIV, TB, Hepatitis, and STIs, WHO HQ, Geneva.

This critical review aims to assess the implementation status of the NSP (2023-25) by reviewing key areas like:
- Epidemiology & Surveillance
- TBL Performance (coverage, quality of care)
- Program Financing & Gaps
- Opportunities for integration of TB/other lung diseases

External Reviewers include delegates from WHO, KNCV, German Leprosy Foundation, Stop TB Partnership, Apopo project, Management Science for Health (MSH), REACH Ethiopia, and other partners.
REACH Ethiopia supports this important initiative technically and financially. Our organization plays a vital role in supporting the End TB Strategy in Ethiopia by focusing on community engagement, strengthening the public-private mix for TB care, and enhancing TB case detection and treatment adherence at the grassroots level.

For this review, our team is ready to execute key tasks, including:
- Conducting program review using data collection tools.
- Verifying information during field visits.
- Summarizing findings to make crucial data-backed recommendations that will shape the path toward a TB-free Ethiopia.
