REACH Ethiopia: Addressing TB in Pastoralist Communities
REACH Ethiopia, a leading local organization with a decade of experience in TB research and implementation, is committed to transforming TB care in Ethiopia. With a proven track record of successful project execution and strong partnerships, REACH is well-positioned to address the critical challenges faced by pastoralist communities in the Afar region.
This project (Reaching of vulnerable and key affected population in pastoralist area of Ethiopia) aims to improve TB case detection, treatment, and care in the Afar region through innovative approaches, including community engagement, task shifting, and integration of TB services with other health programs. By strengthening laboratory capacity, enhancing data management, and generating evidence, the project will contribute to a sustainable TB response.
Key project activities include:
- Community-led TB case finding and treatment adherence support
- Task shifting of laboratory tasks to nurses
- Integration of TB care into mobile health services
- Capacity building of local communities and health systems
- Data management and utilization
- Generating evidence for TB program advocacy
With a total grant of 1.3 million EUR, this project will be implemented from January 2023 to December 2025 in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Afar Regional Health Bureau.
