USAID Urban TB LON II Project Enhances Lab Capacity in Ethiopia

Building the capacity of laboratory professionals is crucial for accurate TB diagnosis and high-quality data. Through the USAID Urban TB LON II Project, we successfully trained 88 laboratory professionals from public and private health facilities in Dire Dawa and Harar. Previously, these trainings were given to laboratory professionals in Addis Ababa. This comprehensive training program, conducted in collaboration with the Harari Regional Health Bureau and Dire Dawa Administration Health Bureau, focused on AFB microscopy, external quality assurance, GeneXpert MTB/RIF, MTB/XDR assay, and LabXpert connectivity system. The training aimed to enhance the ability of laboratory professionals to diagnose TB accurately and effectively. Upon completion, all participants received certification. The USAID Urban TB LON II Activity remains committed to strengthening the capacity of laboratory professionals to improve TB diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, ultimately contributing to ending TB.
