As part of our collaborative efforts with the Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau to find and treat missed TB cases, a baseline assessment was recently conducted across major high-load hospitals: Yekatit 12, Minilik II, Zewditu Memorial, and Tirunesh Beijing.
While evaluating TB services from pre-triage to laboratories we identified key operational gaps, including low presumptive identification, inconsistent documentation, and underutilized tools like Stool GeneXpert. To address these challenges, we recently conducted targeted sensitization training on TB screening for around 100 healthcare workers across these vital hospitals!
