REACH Ethiopia, in collaboration with the Afar Regional Health Bureau and supported by an Expertise France-funded project, successfully concluded a two-day review meeting of the TB program in Afar Zone 03. The meeting served as a vital platform to evaluate the program’s performance over the last six months and strategically plan for continued progress in the fight against TB.

Key Focus Areas and Achievements
The review specifically focused on three core areas:
- Community Activities: Evaluating the effectiveness and reach of community-based interventions.
- Facility Service Improvements: Assessing the enhancements made to TB services at health facilities.
- TB Detection Rate: Monitoring the success in identifying new TB cases.

🎯 Aiming for Better TB Care for Pastoralists
The overarching goal of this project is to improve TB care access for the vulnerable pastoralist populations in the region. This is achieved through comprehensive efforts focused on:
- Better Awareness: Increasing knowledge about TB symptoms, transmission, and prevention.
- Diagnosis: Enhancing timely and accurate case finding.
- Treatment: Ensuring adherence and successful completion of treatment regimens.
- Stigma Reduction: Working to minimize the social barriers associated with TB.

The review meeting successfully served its purpose to monitor current performance, discuss challenges, and strategically plan the way forward. The discussions centered on ensuring sustained community interventions and achieving an enhanced TB case detection rate in the coming period.
