Empowering Caregivers= Save Lives!

One of the core objectives of the Urban TB LON II Project is to enhance healthcare worker capacity for better TB diagnosis, care, and health outcomes.

Aligned with this goal, we recently conducted two rounds of orientation sessions on DR-TB TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) for selected staff from TB Follow-up Centers (TFC) and TB Initiation Centers (TIC) across Addis Ababa public health facilities.

A total of 84 staff members were equipped to detect cases sooner, deliver higher-quality care, and save more lives. Every trained worker is expected to strengthen facility-level capacity, protecting families and driving effective, community-wide TB care delivery.

As Ethiopia scales up national efforts to protect vulnerable household contacts and high-risk populations, expanding TPT is key to reaching a TB-free generation. Ultimately, TPT is far more than medicine it is hope, protection, & our most powerful pathway toward a healthier, TB-free future.

REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence.
