Expanding Our Impact: REACH Ethiopia Honored for Excellence in TB Prevention

REACH Ethiopia’s Urban TB LON II Project has received recognitions from regional health authorities for its transformative contributions to tuberculosis prevention, control, and treatment.

Supported by the U.S. Department of State – Foreign Assistance Division, the project was recently honored as a top-performing strategic partner and key contributor to public health:

  • Sidama National Regional State: Recognized during the Annual Review Meeting in Hawassa City on August 29, 2026, where a formal Certificate of Recognition was presented by Dr. Selamawit Mengesha, Head of the Sidama Region Health Bureau.
  • South Ethiopia Regional: Honored during the annual TB Program Review meeting held in Jinka for excellence in program execution and collaborative health service delivery.

These accolades highlight our core programmatic pillars—proactive community-based interventions, aggressive active case finding, expanding diagnostic networks, and strengthening comprehensive treatment services. By aligning directly with Ethiopia’s National End TB Strategy, these collaborative efforts continue to reach vulnerable populations, bridge healthcare gaps, and save lives across the regions.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our team , regional partners, healthcare workers, and community volunteers whose dedication makes these milestones possible.

REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence.
