Better Lab Diagnostics = Saving More Lives!

September 25, 2026 — From September 21–25, 2026, REACH Ethiopia, through the Urban TB LON II Project, successfully concluded a 5-day intensive AFB and EQA training for 28 laboratory professionals from public health facilities across Addis Ababa and Shagar Cities. Participants completed comprehensive theoretical and practical sessions, earning Continuing Professional Development (CPD) certification.

This training was designed to:

  • Ensure reliable diagnostic accuracy for infectious cases,
  • Strengthen External Quality Assessment (EQA) practices, and
  • Combat drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) through standardized testing.

Accurate diagnosis is the first step toward effective treatment. Empowering our lab personnel means saving lives.

REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence.
