Empowering the frontline for a TB-free future

Recently concluded 4 rounds of capacity-building training on Management of Childhood TB. This initiative reached 144 healthcare professionals from both public and private facilities across Addis Ababa, equipping them with the vital skills needed to combat TB in children and adolescents.

The training orientation focused on five critical pillars:

  • Enhanced Case-Finding: Increasing TB detection at both health facility and community levels.
  • Improved Diagnosis & Treatment: Utilizing modern methods, including stool TB diagnosis, to ensure accurate and timely care.
  • Comorbidity Management: Addressing the complex needs of patients with TB-HIV and malnutrition.
  • Preventive Therapy: Strengthening contact screening and the implementation of TB Preventive Therapy (TPT) in line with national guidelines.
  • Basics of Pediatric TB: Ensuring a deep understanding of how TB affects younger populations differently.

This essential work is a core component of the Urban TB LON II Project, which aims to strengthen healthcare capacity to improve outcomes and ultimately save lives. This initiative was made possible through the support of the U.S. Department of State – Foreign Assistance Division.

By empowering our frontline workers with specialized knowledge, we are ensuring that quality TB services are accessible to every child in our community. Together, we are one step closer to ending TB.
