We are proud to have partnered with the Ministry of Health to support a vital national training on the DR-TB Data Tracker. This initiative brought together around 110 participants from across the country including Digital Health and Health Information System (HIS) experts, MDR-TB focal persons, and representatives from the Ministry of Health and Regional Health Bureaus to revitalize and fully re-initiate the national DR-TB tracking system.

Empowering Data-Driven Care
With 73 MDR TB Treatment Initiating Centers (TICs) now operating across Ethiopia, this digital tracker is essential for monitoring patient outcomes, treatment compliance, and overall progress. By equipping our healthcare experts with these critical tools, we are optimizing our recording and reporting processes to ensure more accurate, evidence-based care for patients nationwide.

Continuing the Mission
Ethiopia’s successful transition out of the list of high-burden MDR-TB countries in 2020 was a significant milestone and a testament to our collective national efforts. However, with the 2025 national report identifying 2,500 MDR-TB patients, our work continues. Maintaining a strong, responsive surveillance system is vital; through the DR-TB tracker, we are empowered to identify every patient and their contacts, ensuring no one is left behind.

REACH Ethiopia remains committed to working closely with the Ministry of Health to strengthen our health systems and enhance outcomes for the communities we serve. Together, we are taking a definitive step toward closing the case-detection gap and achieving our national goal of ending TB in Ethiopia.
