REACH Ethiopia, under the Urban TB LON Activity II project, recently concluded a vital two-day coordination meeting in Bishoftu. The meeting brought together representatives from 17 GeneXpert sites and 100 referring public and Private public mix (PPM) health facilities to bridge existing gaps in TB diagnostics and patient care.

The objective was to address barriers standing in the way of timely, high-quality TB services. Facilities shared their performance data, helping us pinpoint critical bottlenecks, including: Specimen transportation delays, High testing error rates & Inefficiencies in Turnaround Time (TAT) for result delivery.

This meeting wasn’t just a discussion it was a call to action. By identifying the root causes of current challenges, participants agreed on shared responsibilities that define clear accountability for every step from the moment a sample is collected to the second a patient receives their result.

By sharpening our diagnostic network, we ensure earlier detection and faster treatment the only way to break the chain of transmission and save lives.
