Bridging the Gap: Finding Every Missing TB Case

TB remains a critical public health challenge, but finding every missed case is the key to turning the tide. Too many individuals experience symptoms yet lack awareness about TB or access to proper care, especially among vulnerable populations. That is why our team goes directly to where the community is.

As part of our ongoing routine activities, we recently brought vital TB services to one of the largest feeding centers in Addis Ababa, established by the Addis Ababa City Administration. By meeting people where they are, we provide comprehensive TB care through:

  • Community Awareness: Informing individuals about TB symptoms, prevention, and available support.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilizing digital X-rays to detect cases early and accurately.
  • Treatment Support: Ensuring every diagnosed individual receives the care they need to get cured and stay healthy.

Early detection saves lives, and we are working hard to make this a reality every single day through the Urban TB LON II Project, supported by the US Government-Foreign Assistance Division.

REACH Ethiopia grew out of a TB project that started in 2010. This project introduced an innovative community package that engaged health extension workers (HEWs) to increase TB case detection and treatment adherence.
