USAID Urban TB LON II Boosts TB Diagnosis Capacity

A five-day training on AFB Microscopy and External Quality Assurance was successfully conducted in Bishoftu from August 12-16, 2024. The training, organized by the USAID Urban TB LON II Activity in collaboration with the Addis Ababa City Administration Health Bureau, equipped 29 laboratory professionals from Addis Ababa health facilities with essential skills to enhance TB diagnosis and treatment.

Participants gained in-depth knowledge of tuberculosis, including its global impact, various forms, transmission, and diagnostic methods. The training also covered the National TB Program, DOTS strategy, and the critical role of AFB microscopy in TB control. Practical sessions allowed participants to apply their learning, and upon completion, they received certification from the Janmeda Health CPD Center.

USAID Urban TB LON II Activity remains dedicated to strengthening laboratory capacity to improve TB diagnosis and treatment in the community.
